Akinsdale is a mature, family neighbourhood located on the South-East edge of St. Albert. When construction began in 1973, Akinsdale was built with no entrances or exits on the south-east side as a way to create a border from the rapidly expanding Edmonton and to ensure St. Albert's independence.
